SPC Medical Center’s Industrial Clinic Division (SPCMC/ICD) is committed to promoting preventive healthcare in the workplace. As part of this ongoing initiative, the group recently facilitated an insightful on-site lecture at SM San Pablo City focused on work-related pain.
This crucial lecture aimed to raise awareness, foster understanding, and equip employees with the proper knowledge for managing common work-related discomforts and even injuries. The program catered to all employees, regardless of whether their role involved a desk job or manual labor.
Many employees often overlook the connection between the aches and pains they experience—such as chronic back, leg, and shoulder pains—and their daily work activities. These discomforts are frequently work-related, stemming from repetitive tasks like typing for extended hours on computers or prolonged periods of standing.
"Little did employees know that the aches and pains they experience, such as back, leg and shoulder pains are sometimes work-related due to the repetitive task they do like typing long hours on their computers or standing up."
Recognizing this critical gap in awareness, the Industrial Clinic Division spearheaded this program. Its primary goal was to illuminate the true causes of work-related pains and injuries and to introduce effective preventive measures that individuals can adopt to avoid or alleviate their pain.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Jan Michael Lleva, one of SPCMC’s leading Physiatrists, who provided comprehensive insights into the subject matter.
Complementing Dr. Lleva's expert talk, certified Physical Therapist Ms. Loida Vidania led an engaging practical session. She demonstrated a series of simple yet effective exercises designed to help ease various types of pain.
The lecture participants showed enthusiastic engagement, actively participating in the exercises and embracing the opportunity to learn practical strategies for their well-being. This interactive approach underscored SPCMC/ICD's commitment to hands-on, preventive healthcare education.
