It’s not every day that medical professionals find themselves in the spotlight of a popular morning news show for their dance moves. Yet, that's precisely what happened to our dedicated SPC Medical staff, affectionately known as “The Dancing Health Care Workers.” Their viral #EverAfter dance challenge, originally shared on the popular short-form video app TikTok, garnered thousands of views and led to an appearance on the Unang Hirit news program.
The viral #EverAfter dance challenge was a true collaborative effort, born from the innovative spirit of SPC Medical’s nursing and administrative departments.
Charmagne Exconde, from SPC Medical’s HR team, shared insights into the video’s creation, noting it was a spontaneous burst of fun. She jokingly recounted how she was “dragged into it” just as she was about to leave for the day!
The initial idea for the dance craze came from the nursing staff, who rallied colleagues to record the video after their shift on May 25, 2021. Key participants included:
Notably, the popular choreography by TikTok user @ceejaylaqui_ (Ceejay Laqui) was creatively modified by SPC Medical’s own Renzo Resurreccion, who serves as an Artificial Kidney Unit Clerk and receptionist.
The team emphasized that the video was far more than just a way to blow off steam. It carried a powerful message:
"Despite the crazy work schedule and stress surrounding our front liners and health workers, they can still have fun. More importantly, they can also make people smile and inspire people to just live life no matter the circumstance."
The video's unexpected popularity was met with immense appreciation. It brought joy not only to the viewers but also provided an opportunity for SPC Medical's staff to serve as an inspiration.
The Dancing Health Care Workers stand as a testament that even when joy isn't readily available, it can be created. This spirit of creating joy is something SPC Medical strives to impart to its patients daily.
In a profession that can often feel thankless, moments like these shine a light on the incredible dedication of healthcare workers who risk their lives for others. This viral moment of fun offers a powerful reminder to remain grateful for their sacrifices and serves as a beacon of hope, aiming to lift the spirits of those who need it most.
